Overseas TV Rights to be Split on League Postion
Seems as though the closed shop has just got some upgraded security.....

I suspect the potential of getting more money for potentially finishing 7th was too much for some owners....or it was the threat of the big six pressing on with the euro super league.

I think you're right but I think that is shortsighted on their part.

The top clubs need the bottom clubs to thrash if only to reinforce the image of their supremacy.

I wonder how many fans of Real Madrid and Barcelona can even name whichever club Ronaldo or Messi just put six goals past; they only care that their idols just ran riot over someone.

Put Barcelona and Real Madrid up against the likes of Juventus and Bayern regularly and those hammerings will become less frequent, and interest in (based on worship of) those big clubs will wane.

Let's face it overseas TV companies are not bothered about anyone but Man Utd; Man City; Arsenal; Chelsea and Liverpool in the main. Who they happen to be playing is an irrelevance...

I get your point but considering I can't see anyone challenging the top 6 for the foreseeable future it makes sure that everyone else pushes on and fights until the end and gets rewarded for doing so

After having a read, it doesn't sound as bad as i thought.

It's an increase to a 1.8:1 ratio from a 1.6:1 ratio.
Obviously still an increase, but not a massive one.

But it's still a case of actively trying to help the rich get richer while the poor get poorer.

You make a good point Propodkin - the end of the season should get better. But I do think that the bigger picture is that even more money is being funnelled to the most famous teams, helping shut the door behind them even more.

I think its a great idea, will stop teams getting to 40 points and then fading away

Just surprised it’s taken this long. Bad news is it will be harder for the SPIVS to sell.
